When we use the word “digital marketing”, we are referring to a brand’s online marketing efforts.
So, if you are wondering what digital marketing (DM) is, here is your answer:
This is an exercise in business through which advertising messages are delivered through online channels such as websites, mobile apps, search engines, social media, and emails. It helps a brand create interest in its products among its customers.
Although DM began to gain popularity in the year 2000. In the last two years, it has revolutionized marketing communications.
This brand is delivered through electronic channels such as messaging (advertising) such as television, radio, internet, etc.
It can be both online and offline.

Isn’t that crazy!
However, the simple definition of DM does not say much about the process of digital marketing in today’s world.
This meaning is useless because only digital marketing technology is viable. So let’s understand what digital marketing is.

This is a set of interactive marketing promotion activities that are done online. These activities help an individual or organization reach their target audience and achieve their business and financial goals.
So when we say digital marketing, we are basically referring to online digital marketing.
Another form of DM is offline digital marketing, which occurs on other electronic devices such as radio or television.
I know you’re not here to read about radio or TV, so I’ll save you (although I’ve invested millions of dollars in offline marketing during my career).
Going forward in this article when I say “DM”, I’m really referring to “online digital marketing”, because you intend to read it here, right?

It’s interactive, not just one way. It enables two-way communication and is more engaging than other marketing methods. Interactivity is what sets it apart from advertising on television, which is also electronic but not interactive.
It’s online. This basically means that the activity runs on the Internet or telecom networks. Although it is online, it can empower both the virtual and offline. An example of DM in the virtual or online world is email marketing or social media marketing or search engine marketing. Emotionally, when we say digital marketing, we are only referring to virtual or online marketing
A case of DM in the virtual or online world is email advertising or internet based life promoting or web search tool showcasing.
It helps an individual or an organization. This is useful not only for large companies but also for individuals, as opposed to TV or newspaper advertising. Anyone can take advantage of digital advertising on a small budget.
It helps to reach and engage the target audience. It’s focused, and anyone can use multiple targeting methods to reach their audience.
It helps to achieve business and financial goals. It is based on measurement and ROI. This helps in achieving business and financial goals.
